The Noob 16

It was established in the very first Legends of the Dark Tower caption I ever wrote that players have a hard time figuring out how magic works.  I don't think it's something that would come naturally.  Players in LotDT get their characters' abilities, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they immediately know how to use those abilities.

The way I picture it is this: you have a basic idea of how to swing a sword, though you probably don't know how to swing it well.  But when a goblin jumps out of the bushes and starts stabbing you in the legs, you draw your sword and swing it... and wow, that went so much better than you expected.  It's like you've been practicing swordfighting for years.

But with magic, where would you even start?  There's no equivalent to just swinging your sword and hoping for the best.  Once you figure out how to cast a spell, sure, you would probably be great at it.  But first you would have to figure out how to activate the spell in the first place.

  1. Nice continuation. I'd think that learning new skills would be well within the new characters abilities. So with study and training sword skills will come.
